Mystery Bounty Feature

The new Mystery Bounty Bounty functionality in the bounty tournaments where the players do not know the bounty they will win until they eliminate their opponent(s).

The Mystery Bounty tournaments are, essentially, Knock-out Flight tournaments in which the players win randomly drawn bounties when eliminating their opponents, in addition to the regular prizes of the tournament. As in the KO Flights, the bounties in the Mystery Bounty tournaments are collected from players’ buy-ins (a configurable percentage of the player’s buy-in goes for the bounty, whereas the other part goes for the prize pool).

The Mystery Bounty tournament can contain up to several bounty pools depending on the number of players qualified for the Day 2 event. Each pool will have a different monetary value and frequency.

During the “Day 1” events, the players can only qualify for the main “Day 2” event (there are no bounties or prizes). The bounty phase begins with the start of the main “Day 2” event. The system randomly assigns all bounties to all players, and every time a player knocks out an opponent, they win their bounty. The entire amount of the won bounty goes directly to the player balance. The bounty that a player can win does not depend on the position of the player in the tournament.

There are several changes in the Tournaments grid and lobby to make the Mystery Bounty tournaments easily distinguishable and to provide the players with all the needed information. New Mystery Bounty attribute icon – when a Mystery Bounty tournament is configured, the new attribute icon appears in various places in the clients (tournament grid, tournament lobby, etc.) to indicate the new tournament type:

Download Desktop client

Native Mobile client

Web client

New Mystery Bounty filtering option in the Format section of the client’s filters. When the option is selected, the respective client will show only Mystery Bounty tournaments (both Day 1 and Day 2 events).

Note that if the player selects the already existing Knockout option from the Format section of the filters, the client will show both Knock-out and Mystery Bounty “Day 2” tournaments.

New Mystery Bounty section, informing the players how mystery bounties work as well as when the player can win mystery bounties:

The Mystery Bounty section is shown in different tabs of the tournament lobby, depending on the client::

  • In the Download Desktop client, the section is shown in the Game tab of the tournament lobby. Note that the General tab of the tournament lobby in the Download Desktop client also shows a Mystery Bounty field, which informs the players that bounties can be won only in the main “Day 2” event
  • In the Native Mobile client, the section is shown in the Info tab of the tournament lobby
  • In the Web client, the section is shown in the Info tab of the tournament lobby when the player selects the info icon next to the Mystery Bounty field, which informs the players that mystery bounties can be won only in the “Day 2” event

Prize pool information — the prize pool of Mystery Bounty tournaments is shown in the same manner as the prize pool of Flight Knock-out tournaments. It is split into a regular pool and a bounty pool:

  • The Regular Pool field shows the sum of all “Day 1” buy-in amounts. In case the gathered prize pool is less than the guaranteed prize pool (when there is such), the Regular Pool field shows the prize pool minus the bounty pool
  • The Bounty Pool field shows the sum of all Knock-out buy-ins of the players. The knock-out buy-in is the part of the buy-in amount that goes for bounties

New Bounty tab in the tournament lobbies of the main “Day 2” event. The new tab shows the initial bounty pool distribution. The tab gets populated at the beginning of “Day 2” (the tab will not update as the tournament progresses). Prior to this, the tab informs the players that the bounties will be calculated at the beginning of “Day 2”.

The “Day 1” events of a Flight tournament configured with Mystery Bounty do not differ from the “Day 1” events of a regular Flight tournament. The main gameplay changes come in the main “Day 2” event

The table of the main “Day 2” event of a Mystery Bounty tournament has a dedicated new table theme.

Note that the dedicated Mystery Bounty theme cannot be modified via the Table Felts & Backgrounds feature.

When the “Day 2” event begins, a nice animation informs the players about the total bounty pool, the bounty pool distribution per tiers, and the bounty rewards in each tier. The gameplay begins after the animation. The players do not see the bounties of the other opponents nor their bounty (that’s why it is called Mystery Bounty):

When a player knocks out an opponent, the gameplay on the entire table stops, and animation is played. The animation indicates the opponent who has been eliminated and then reveals the letter with the mystery bounty that the winner has won. The animation is visible to all players and observers on the table.

The bounty distribution described above shows the main case when one player eliminates an opponent and wins the opponent’s bounty. However, the bounty is distributed differently depending on how many players have been eliminated and how many players have won their bounties.

The possible bounty distribution scenarios are described below. For easier understanding, an example explains each scenario. To make the examples consistent let’s consider that our players are assigned the following bounties:

Scenario 1: A player eliminates more than one opponent and wins their bounty. In this case, the animation will show all knocked-out opponents and then will visualize all bounty amounts won by the player.

An example: “Player A” eliminates “Player B” and “Player C”. The animation shows that “Player B” and “Player C” have been eliminated and then when the suitcase with bounties opens, it shows that “Player A” has won €10,000 ( the bounty of “Player B”) + €15,000 (the bounty of “Player C”).

Scenario 2: Two players have winning hands with the same strength and eliminate the same opponent. In this case, the animation will highlight the knocked-out player and will inform the other players that the bounty of the eliminated player has been split between the two winners.

An example: “Player A” and “Player B” eliminate “Player C”. The animation shows that “Player C” has been eliminated, and then when the suitcase with bounties opens, it notifies the players on the table that “Player A” and “Player B” split €15,000 (the bounty of “Player C”). The won bounty of each winner is shown above their avatars (“+€7,500” appears above “Player A” and above “Player B”).

Scenario 3: Two players have winning hands with the same strength and eliminate more than one opponent. This situation is identical to the one described in scenario 2, with the exception that now the two winners will split the sum of the two won bounties.

An example: “Player A” and “Player B” win the hand and eliminate “Player C” and “Player D”. The animation will indicate the knocked-out players, and then when the suitcase with bounties opens, it will inform the players on the table that “Player A” and “Player B” split €15,000, €20,000 (the bounties of “Player C” and “Player D”). Then, the won bounty of each winner is shown above their avatars - “+€17,500” (“(€15,000 + €20,000)/2”) appears above “Player A” and “Player B”.

Scenario 4: Two players with different hands eliminate more than one opponent. In this case, each player wins the bounty of the opponent s/he has eliminated. The part of the animation with the opening of the suitcase is not shown in this situation.

An example: “Player A” eliminates “Player B”, whereas in the same hand “Player C” eliminates “Player D”. The animation indicates the two eliminated players, and then shows letters revealing the bounties “Player A” and “Player C” have won.“+€10,000” (the bounty of “Player B”) appears above the avatar of “Player A”, whereas “+€20,000” (the bounty of “Player D”) appears above the avatar of “Player C”.

Scenario 5: Two players eliminate the same opponent, and in addition, one of the winners also eliminates another opponent. In this case, the winners will split the bounty of the player they have eliminated, and then the player who has eliminated a different opponent will win this bounty, as well. Again, the part of the animation with the opening of the suitcase will not be played.

An example: “Player A” and “Player B” eliminate “Player C”, and in addition “Player A” also eliminates “Player D”. The animation shows the knocked-out players and then shows letters revealing the bounties “Player A” and “Player B” have won. “+€27,500” appears above “Player A” (the €20,000 bounty of “Player D” + €7,500 split bounty of “Player C”). At the same time, “+€7,500” appears above “Player B” (the split bounty of “Player C”)

Once the animation is over, the gameplay continues as usual. The players can check all bounties remaining in the tournament via the Mystery Bounty widget, represented via a suitcase icon on the table (shown on the left image). Upon selecting the icon, the widget opens on top of the active table, showing the bounties that are left in the tournament, as well as the bounties that have been won and are no longer available (visible on the right image). The information in the widget updates runtime as the tournament progresses. The widget is available only in the “Day-2” event.

Note that the regular prize structure of the tournament applies in addition to the mystery bounties. Therefore, the tournament continues until only one player remains.

The Mystery Bounty feature is supported in all clients (Download Desktop, Native Mobile, and Web clients).
